Childgarden is an inclusive childcare center located in the Central West End neighborhood of St. Louis, MO. The learning experiences at Childgarden are designed to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Our educational philosophy follows the school of constructivist thought, with our teachers focusing on the development of the child.
“We’re back again with our second Childgarden kiddo: we love the diverse population; the friendly, loving staff; and the fact that both kids get excited when they walk in the building! A truly under-the-radar gem. Have recommended to many friends who’ve been just as happy here as we are.”
– Amanda Doyle, Childgarden Parent
At Childgarden children learn about the world around them through planned activities, interactions with a wide variety of materials and quality connections with teachers and peers. Lesson plans are based on the interests of the children and they are encouraged to question, express their opinions, and challenge their current way of thinking. Children are offered a wide variety of rich materials that can be incorporated into their play or artistic expression. Our quality, inclusive education enables children of all ability levels to reach their full potential!
Childgarden is a fully inclusive early education program. Children with disabilities and children without disabilities work and learn together in classrooms. In order to support the development of all of our children, Childgarden provides a full array of early intervention services. Whenever possible, early interventions services take place in the classroom or with typically developing peers. Our Early Intervention Specialist is a site leader for Childgarden. This role spends most of the time in the classrooms to help identify and support children with challenges. The Early Intervention Specialist works closely with the staff and families of Childgarden to ensure success as ALL children learn and play together.
Diversity is one of Childgarden’s great strengths! Children come to Childgarden from across the St. Louis region, with a wide variety of backgrounds and skills. We encourage our children and families to share their backgrounds and traditions in the classroom.
